A series of related illustrations produced as a gift. I love drawing animals, and as a crafter from long line of crafters, these pieces were a delightful combination.
Hello
This project started as a simple, tarot-inspired phone background, and wound up being the foundational building block for a studio’s website.
The first image is the phone background. After meeting with a web designer, I shifted the design and wireframed a homepage that used the painting not only as a background, but as an overall thematic guide. Several sketches and a style exercise later, the final painting is now a complete piece, and also featured on KnaveofSwords.com
Unity
Incorporating a sequence that visually explained where the word is within the sigil was the last piece, and the one that may still change!
Focus
From there, the idea to animate them seemed like a natural leap, but I wanted to animation to reflect the meaning of the word (and not necessarily the way the word is spelled.)
Patience
It started with a meditation on a few single words, which inspired ‘sigils’ or “totem ambigrams”
